The Role

An excellent opportunity to join a highly collaborative and supportive teaching environment at the Macquarie University Special Education Centre (MUSEC) in the position of Special Education Classroom Assistant. The role is offered as Casual and may include short-term contracted work.

In contributing to the learning and development of primary aged students with special learning needs, you will work closely with the Classroom Teacher, Allied Health workers and the team of Classroom Assistants.

About Us
Macquarie University Special Education Centre (MUSEC) is an Independent School based at Macquarie University providing high quality education to primary students with mild to moderate intellectual disability, autism and language difficulties across Kindergarten to Year 6. MUSEC School offers both academic and life skills programs. We have small classes, personalised education programs and well qualified staff. We are known for our inclusivity, expertise, academic focus and dedication to our students and school community.

Essential Criteria
  • An ability to assist in the delivery of learning activities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
  • Sound technology skills including the use of Interactive Whiteboards and iPads
  • An ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff and families
  • An ability to work as a member of a team
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience in working with students with a range of disabilities;
